On New Yearâs Day, after spending the night at The Inn at Spanish Bay, we decided to grab lunch near Carmel. I had called ahead to confirm the restaurant was open, as Yelp and Google had them listed as closed for lunch on Wednesdays for lunch. Luckily, they were open, and we were able to enjoy some college football semifinal games while dining. We kept it simple and ordered a French dip sandwich and a delicious, well-seasoned fish dish that seemed to have an Asian or Japanese-inspired flair, paired with rice and ginger. The French fries were crispy and flavorful, the French dip was excellent, and the fish was absolutely spot-on. While we didnât try any appetizers or dessertsâstill full from our New Yearâs Eve celebrationâeverything we had was fantastic. The restaurant is charming, with cozy yet refined decor that makes it perfect for families, friends, or a casual date night. The service stood out as well, with attentive and cheerful young staff who impressed us with their friendliness and efficiency. We were seated in a spot where we could easily watch the game without needing to sit at the bar, which was a nice bonus.Parking is available in the surrounding area, and there are plenty of shops nearby to explore. After lunch, I strolled across the courtyard and grabbed a coffee from a cafeÌ nearby, which was the perfect way to wrap up the afternoon.Next time, weâll definitely return for dinner and drinks. Iâd highly recommend this spot for its inviting atmosphere, great service, and tasty food. Plus, the large bar with two TVs makes it a great option for local sports fans!

Food first rate, lots of choices, presented in a pleasant and comfortable atmosphere. We stayed overnight at the Carmel mission inn, so stepped over a curb to get here. Recommend this is you drink a bunch.I included some pics of the food. This was a fun night out.Service attentive, nice beer and wine selection. The smoking thing was an ice cream ball dipped in chocolate with dry ice and water. Do not recommend.

We had an incredible dining experience at Sur at the Barnyard! From the moment we walked in, the ambiance was warm and inviting, perfectly capturing the charm of Carmel. Our server, Grant, was exceptional. His attentiveness, professionalism, and friendly demeanor truly elevated our evening. He made sure every detail of our meal was perfect and provided excellent recommendations. As for the foodâwow! I ordered the fried chicken, and it was easily one of the best Iâve ever had. Crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside, and seasoned to perfection. My wife had the cheeseburger, and she couldnât stop raving about it. The flavors were fresh and rich, and the quality of the ingredients was evident. We left feeling completely satisfied and already looking forward to our next visit. If youâre in the Carmel area, Sur at the Barnyard is a must-visit! Ask for Grantâyou wonât regret it.

The food was great! Hubby won out on his choice with the herb baked chicken! When he says mmm mmm after every bite, then I know itâs good. He even let me try a little bit, and mmm mmm was right. I ordered the beet salad for my entree, and the coconut prawns appetizer. There were huge delicious prawns served with tartar sauce, cocktail sauce, and sweet sauce for dipping. They didnât seem like coconut prawns, though. More like just deep fried prawns. The beet salad was a good size and very satisfying.Austin, our waiter, added to our wonderful dining experience. He was fast, efficient, super nice, and very personable. He took our orders quickly and checked in with us often to make sure we had everything we needed. The restaurant was busy and lively, but not too loud. We will definitely go back! And definitely ask for Austin!!
